Environmental Science Teacher
About the Role
Creative School fosters a holistic, inquiry-driven, and integrated approach to education. The school emphasizes intellectual curiosity, reflective pedagogy, emotional intelligence, and environmental stewardship. We are looking for a passionate Environmental Science educator to teach high school and higher secondary students through both the Cambridge and NIOS frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Participate in The Sacred Classroom© Teacher Education Program for personal and professional growth to deepen understanding of the school’s teaching framework.
- Deliver engaging, activity-based lessons aligned with Creative’s Sacred Classroom© pedagogy – as they receive training in this pedagogy.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Cambridge Environmental Management and NIOS Environmental Science syllabi.
- Teach key environmental systems — lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere — integrating scientific and social perspectives.
- Facilitate in-depth exploration of population-environment interactions, sustainability challenges, and environmental legislation through projects as required.
- Design inquiry-based projects, experiments, and field activities to develop analytical, investigative, and critical thinking skills.
- Use data-driven teaching methods.
- Encourage environmental consciousness through cross-disciplinary collaboration and community engagement projects.
- Prepare students for assessments through formative and summative evaluations that test conceptual understanding and real-world application.
- Foster a classroom environment centered on curiosity, respect for nature, and global responsibility.
- Guide students in preparing for assessments by building strong conceptual understanding, reasoning skills, and exam-writing strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Life Science, Earth Science, Geography, Ecology, or a related discipline; and/or experience in teaching research based project work and science in school settings
- Ah exposure to Cambridge IGCSE/AS & A Level Environmental Management and/or NIOS Environmental Science.
- More importantly – a love for learning and teaching; love children and help them rise up to challenges.
- Deep curiosity and respect for the natural world.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex scientific concepts for diverse learners. Ability to utilize technology to a comfortable extent and guide students well.
- Ability to connect classroom concepts to real-world challenges and local contexts.
- Strong facilitation skills to inspire independent thinking and collaborative problem-solving.
- Prior teaching experience in inquiry-based or trans-disciplinary learning environments preferred.
- Commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth.
- Open-mindedness, empathy, reflectiveness, and enthusiasm for child-centered, holistic education.
- Ability to review textbooks and reference books to work with relevant materials
