English Language Teacher
About the Role
Creative School is seeking an inspired English Teacher for our higher secondary, high school, and the middle school program, designed for teenagers exploring language as a tool for self-expression, critical thinking, and connection to society. The school emphasizes intellectual curiosity, reflective pedagogy, emotional intelligence, and social, environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities
- Participate in The Sacred Classroom© Teacher Education Program for personal and professional growth to deepen understanding of the school’s teaching framework.
- Deliver engaging, activity-based and contemplative English lessons aligned with Creative’s Sacred Classroom© pedagogy – as they receive training in this pedagogy. .
- Encourage open discussions, draft writing, editing that nurture curiosity, empathy, and student voice.
- Integrate themes relevant to adolescent life through literature and writing.
- Create a joyful, inquiry-driven, discursive classroom that supports independence and community learning.
- Guide students in connecting language with real-world perspectives and self-expression.
- Teach relevant grammar skills and pragmatic skills for good writing to emerge in students seeing them as budding authors, poets, publishers and editors.
- Collaborate with colleagues to connect classroom learning with the school’s integrated approach, holistic and spiritual education vision. Work with other teachers to design a curriculum that inspires students to understand and experience integrated learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field and/or experience in teaching English and humanities in school settings.
- More importantly – a love for learning and teaching; love children and help them rise up to challenges
- Experience teaching teenagers using experiential and contextual approaches.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and reflective teaching skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of Cambridge International Curriculum will be an advantage
- Commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth.
- Ability to review textbooks and reference books to work with relevant materials
- Open-mindedness, empathy, reflectiveness, and enthusiasm for child-centered, holistic education.
- Openness to holistic education and Creative’s spiritually inspired pedagogy.
